I’m delighted to share that Icon Health Club was awarded National Quality Standard Outstanding (NQSA), award again this year at the annual Ireland Active awards ceremony which were held in Johnstown Estate. In addition our Director Barry Walsh received a Special Recognition award for his contribution to the health and fitness industry in both Ireland and abroad. We are so proud of Barry and lucky to have his leadership and passion within our organisation.
The NQSA, is the most sought-after and respected accolade in the leisure and fitness industry, and is awarded to facilities that meet the operational standards for leisure and fitness facilities across 250 quality-based criteria. The standard is designed to encourage continuous improvement within the sector and recognises facilities for their remarkable standards in the areas of safety, hygiene, customer service and human resources. The NQSA are the only industry specific award for the leisure, health and fitness sector in Ireland.

We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure ICON is always a safe environment for all our staff and members. Here at ICON we like to keep our equipment in tip top shape. Especially with our Keiser M3 bikes we perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance to maintain your sweet ride. This month we preformed a comprehensive inspection of the overall frame and main assembly components of the group cycle bikes so that the overall performances of the bikes are consistent and of a high standard. This was carried out by our supplier and maintenance team.
We also completed a face-lift on our sauna with our maintenance team cleaning and painting all the benches inside as well as checking the mechanical elements in the heater to make sure the temperature is at a perfect heat.
As always, we ask that you respect the code of conduct for classes and the use of the app. We have increased the cancellation period from 30 minutes to 2 hours. This should mean that people on the waiting lists will not be added to the class 30 minutes before it commences and will give them enough time to attend the class or call reception to cancel if the cutoff time has passed.
The rules regarding bookings and classes are in place to ensure that all members can attend the classes of their choice. Current statistics show that class attendance is on average at 70% which means there is plenty of space for everybody but if you forget to cancel a booking others may lose out. If you have any queries then please contact the team at reception.
If you have any feedback or questions regarding the club or your membership, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you all a fantastic Easter. Don’t forget we are open all weekend so we hope to see you!
We had another wildly successful year at the latest industry gold standard Nutramino National Health & Fitness awards scooping first prize in four categories and winning all the accolades for Gym Team of the Year.
Firstly, I’d like to say a huge congratulations to our teams after their success at the National Health and Fitness awards last week. We were thrilled to win 4 National Awards including Gym Team of the Year and Customer Service Provider of the Year. None of this would have been possible without the great team we have working with us and of course our members support. Also, I’d like to congratulate Jess our trainer for making the finals for Fitness Instructor of the Year.
Weights Floor Update
As you may be aware there is structural work to be carried out in the future on our weights floor. The work should roughly take two weeks to complete and there will be no access to the free weights area during this period. We have put an action plan in place to keep as much equipment in use as possible and at the moment all equipment is available for use. During this 2 week period of works we will not have use of the following machines : 2 x Platforms/squat racks, Decline Leg Press, Seated Leg Press and Dumbbells over 22kg. At this point in time we are awaiting confirmation from our landlord and/or Management Company when the work will commence. When we hear anything about this we will notify all members immediately so you are aware of what is going on. During this time you will have access to all our other facilities as well full access to 1escape health club and The Dartry Health club.
Having our mobile booking system is extremely convenient for booking classes. This should mean that people on the waiting lists will not be added to the class 30 minutes before it commences and will therefore give no give everyone enough time to choose to attend the class or call reception to cancel if the cutoff time has passed.
The rules regarding bookings and classes are in place to ensure that all members can attend the classes of their choice. Current statistics show that class attendance is on average at 75% which means there is plenty of space for everybody but if the rules are not respected then members may lose out.
Please be aware that repeated non attendance without cancelling may result in a booking ban or your ability to book online being disabled.
We are constantly working on self improvement and continuous trainings for all our staff so that you get the best experience. We feel that the safety of our members and staff is hugely important and creating an amazing environment to work out in. In early March, we held a training day for our Full time staff on our EAP’s (Emergency Action Procedures) and SOP’s (Safety Operating Procedures) so that we can keep a consistent high service quality and that all staff are aware of these safety procedures in the unlikely event of having to use them.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback about the club or your membership, please do not hesitate to contact me.
