Yogalates. Yogilates. Yoga lattes? Don’t let the name confuse you. There’s a new trend out there, and it’s not on the Starbucks menu. Yogalates is spreading around the world, combining Yoga and Pilates in one workout! Despite the hybrid name, Yogalates “is not gimmicky – it’s built on very tried, true and proven forms of exercise. Balance sessions should be included in everyone’s exercise routine.
Yogalates is founded on controlled breathing. By focusing on your breathing studies have shown a decrease in stress levels. Your concentration is on the movement allowing you recruit more muscles in your core getting better results. Yoga has been proven to increase flexibility and pilates with back pain. Get the benefits of both by trying yogalates.
A motivating blend of Yoga with Pilates, If you haven’t tried yoga or pilates before, well yogalates is a perfect introduction. If you are already familiar with either of these forms of exercise you will love the variety and fusion you will get from Yogalates.
Every Yogalates session is instructor-led and structured to move fluidly between yoga-inspired and Pilates-based work throughout the 45 minutes. Rather than splitting the class in half, the two disciplines are woven together so that the session flows as a single coherent practice.
The yoga elements bring flexibility work, standing poses, balance sequences and breathing techniques drawn primarily from Hatha traditions. Poses are held long enough to develop length and awareness in the muscles and connective tissue, and the breathing instruction that accompanies each position helps regulate the nervous system and deepen the physical work.
The Pilates elements focus on core activation, spinal stability and controlled movement patterns. Exercises targeting the deep stabilising muscles of the trunk, pelvis and back are integrated throughout the session, building the postural strength that supports every yoga pose and every movement you make outside the studio.
Your instructor will guide you through each section with clear cues on alignment, breathing and technique. The pace is deliberate and mindful β not rushed, not passive. Sessions last 45 minutes and leave you feeling both physically worked and mentally settled.
