Yoga classes at Iconic Health Clubs are designed for every level. Whether you have never stepped onto a mat or you have been practising for years, our timetable includes sessions structured specifically for your experience. Beginners classes introduce the fundamentals. All-levels sessions welcome everyone. Improvers classes build on the basics with more challenging sequences and deeper holds.
Yoga runs at all four Iconic Health Clubs locations across Dublin, with multiple sessions available each week including mornings, lunchtimes and evenings. At Dartry, outdoor yoga sessions run in the warmer months. Every class is led by a qualified yoga instructor who brings a focused, mindful approach to the practice.
The yoga classes at Iconic draw primarily from Hatha and Vinyasa traditions. These are the two most widely practised styles of yoga worldwide and together they cover the full range of what most people are looking for in a yoga class.
Hatha yoga is the slower, more foundational style. Poses are held for several breaths, giving you time to find correct alignment and develop strength and flexibility within each position. The pace is steady and deliberate. This is the style used in most of our beginners and all-levels classes.
Vinyasa yoga links poses together in a flowing sequence, with each movement connected to your breath. The transitions between poses become part of the workout, which creates a more dynamic, physically challenging session. Our improvers classes typically incorporate more vinyasa-style flow work.
Both styles include a combination of standing poses, seated poses, balances, twists, forward folds and backbends. Every session finishes with a relaxation or guided breathing sequence designed to calm the nervous system and leave you feeling centred.
Iconic Health Clubs offers yoga at three distinct levels. The timetable at each location labels sessions clearly so you can choose the right class for where you are.
Yoga (Beginners) Designed for people who are completely new to yoga or returning after a long break. Your instructor will teach the foundational poses from scratch, explain the breathing technique, and move at a pace that gives you time to learn. There is no expectation that you already know the poses or the terminology. If you can not touch your toes, that is completely fine. Flexibility is something yoga builds over time, not something you need before you start.
Beginners classes typically run for 45 to 60 minutes and focus on a smaller number of poses performed with clear instruction. The emphasis is on getting the basics right so you build good habits from the start.
Yoga (All Levels) Open to everyone, from first-timers through to experienced practitioners. Your instructor offers modifications for each pose, showing an easier version for those who need it and a more advanced option for those who want more challenge. All-levels classes move at a moderate pace and cover a broader range of poses than the beginners sessions.
This is the most common format on the timetable and is a good choice once you have attended a few beginners classes and feel comfortable with the foundational poses. Most members settle into all-levels yoga as their regular class.
Yoga (Improvers) For members who have a solid grounding in the basics and want to develop their practice further. Expect longer holds, more complex sequences, deeper stretches and poses that require greater strength and balance. The instructor may introduce arm balances, inversions or more advanced transitions between poses.
Improvers classes assume you are already familiar with the core poses and can follow the flow without needing detailed instruction on every movement. If you have been attending all-levels classes regularly for several months, you are likely ready for improvers.

Yoga develops your body and mind across several dimensions.
Flexibility is the most visible benefit. Regular practice gradually increases your range of motion in your hips, hamstrings, shoulders, spine and the muscles around your pelvis. This reduces stiffness, improves posture and makes everyday movements easier and more comfortable.
Strength is less obvious but equally real. Holding poses like plank, warrior, chair and downward dog builds functional strength throughout your body, particularly in your core, legs, glutes and shoulders. Yoga builds the kind of strength that supports your body through natural movement patterns rather than isolating individual muscles.
Balance and coordination improve through the standing and single-leg poses that feature in every class. Better balance reduces your risk of falls, improves your performance in other sports and activities, and develops the proprioception that helps you move with more confidence and control.
Stress reduction and mental wellbeing are among the most valued benefits of regular yoga practice. The combination of controlled breathing, focused movement and the deliberate slowing of pace creates a state of calm that many members find difficult to achieve through other forms of exercise. Regular yoga practice has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, improve sleep quality and support overall mental health.
Breathing is a core component of every yoga class. Learning to control and deepen your breath has benefits that extend well beyond the mat, from managing stress and anxiety to improving focus and concentration at work or in daily life.
Yoga is one of the most accessible and broadly beneficial forms of exercise available.
If you are looking for stress relief and a way to unwind, yoga provides a dedicated space to step away from the pace of daily life, breathe deeply and focus inward. Many members describe their weekly yoga class as the most important hour of their week for their mental health.
If you are a gym regular or athlete looking to improve your performance, yoga develops the flexibility, mobility and body awareness that supports everything else you do. Tight hips, stiff shoulders and a weak core limit your performance in strength training, running and team sports. Yoga addresses all three.
If you sit at a desk all day, yoga directly counters the postural issues that prolonged sitting creates. The stretching and strengthening work targets the hip flexors, chest, shoulders and spine in ways specifically designed to undo the effects of hours spent hunched over a screen.
If you are older and want to maintain mobility and independence, yoga offers a gentle, low-impact way to keep your joints moving, your muscles strong and your balance sharp. Many of our PrimeTime members also attend yoga as a complementary class.
If you have never exercised before, yoga is one of the least intimidating ways to start. The beginners classes move slowly, the instructor explains everything, and there is no competitive element. You work at your own pace on your own mat.
Alongside the standard yoga classes at various levels, several yoga-based specialist formats run at specific locations.
Yogalates (Smithfield, Dartry) – Combines yoga and pilates in one session. You get the flexibility and breathing focus of yoga alongside the core conditioning of pilates. A good choice if you want elements of both disciplines in a single class.
Aerial Yoga (Smithfield) – Uses a fabric hammock suspended from the ceiling to support and deepen traditional yoga poses. The hammock allows you to experience inversions and deeper stretches with less strain on your spine. Aerial yoga is a unique offering and one of the more distinctive classes on the Iconic timetable.
Yoga is available at all four Iconic Health Clubs locations.
Dartry (Dublin 6) – Dartry offers the most yoga sessions of any location, with classes running most days of the week. The timetable includes Yoga (Beginners), Yoga (All Levels) and Yoga (Improvers) as separate labelled sessions, making it easy to find the right level. Dartry also runs outdoor yoga sessions in suitable weather. Sessions take place in Studio 1, the Move Studio and outdoors.
Smithfield (Dublin 7) – Yoga runs multiple times per week at Smithfield, with sessions in the Wellness Studio and Studio 1. Smithfield also offers Yogalates and Aerial Yoga as specialist variants.
Camden Street (Dublin 2) – Yoga runs several times per week at Camden St, with sessions in the Aerobics Studio covering evenings and lunchtimes.
IFSC (Dublin 1) – Yoga runs multiple times per week at IFSC in the Iconic One studio, with evening and morning options.

Yoga and pilates share some common ground but serve different purposes. If you are trying to decide between them, or wondering whether to do both, here is how they compare.
Yoga emphasises flexibility, balance, breathing and mental wellbeing. The poses stretch and strengthen your body while the breathing techniques and meditative elements address stress and mental clarity. Yoga has a spiritual and philosophical tradition behind it, though the classes at Iconic focus on the physical and mental health benefits rather than the spiritual dimension.
Pilates emphasises core strength, spinal alignment and controlled movement. It is more targeted in its approach, with exercises specifically designed to condition the deep stabilising muscles of your trunk, pelvis and back. Pilates is closer to a strength and rehabilitation tool, while yoga is broader in its scope.
Many members do both. Yoga provides the flexibility, breathing and stress relief. Pilates provides the core strength and postural control. Together they form a comprehensive mind-body programme. For more on our pilates offering, visit the Pilates Classes Dublin page.
