Indoor cycling is one of the most effective cardiovascular workouts available. At Iconic Health Clubs, spin classes run at all four Dublin locations on Keiser bikes with digital performance tracking, so you can measure your output, track your progress and push yourself further with every session.
We offer several spin formats to suit different goals and experience levels. Standard Spin sessions run for 45 to 60 minutes and take you through a structured ride of climbs, sprints, flat road and intervals. Revolution Spin adds an immersive, high-energy production layer with lighting and visual effects. And our 30-minute HIIT Spin class delivers maximum intensity in half the time. Whatever format you choose, the instructor controls the ride and the music while you control your own resistance, making every class scalable from beginner to advanced.
Your instructor leads the room through a structured ride set to music. Using verbal cues and coaching, they take you through a series of cycling drills that simulate outdoor terrain: hill climbs where you add resistance and push hard, flat road sections where you settle into a steady cadence, sprint intervals where you increase speed with lower resistance, and recovery phases where you bring your heart rate back down.
The class is built around your resistance dial. Turning it up makes the pedalling harder, simulating a steep hill. Turning it down makes it easier, simulating a flat road or downhill section. Your instructor will call out resistance targets and cadence ranges, but you ultimately decide how hard you work. A complete beginner and an experienced cyclist can ride side by side in the same class and both get an effective workout.
Every bike at Iconic is a Keiser bike with a built-in digital display showing your cadence (pedal speed), gear (resistance level), power output (watts), calories burned and distance covered. This data gives you real-time feedback during the class and allows you to track your performance over time. You can photograph your screen at the end of the session and upload the results via the Iconic Health Clubs app.
Sessions typically run for 45 to 60 minutes depending on the timetable slot. The longer format allows for a more comprehensive ride structure with extended climbing sequences and longer recovery periods.
Spin (All Locations) The standard indoor cycling class. 45 to 60 minutes of coach-led riding through a mix of terrain profiles. The instructor sets the structure and the music; you set your own intensity using the resistance dial. Suitable for all fitness levels. This is the format to start with if you are new to indoor cycling.
Revolution Spin (Smithfield, Dartry) Takes the standard spin format and adds an immersive production element. The studio lighting, visual effects and soundtrack are coordinated to create a more theatrical, high-energy experience. The ride structure is similar to standard Spin but the atmosphere is amplified. Revolution Spin sessions often draw members who want the extra motivation that comes from a fully produced studio environment.
HIIT Spin (All Locations) A 30-minute high-intensity interval session that alternates between maximum-effort sprints and short recovery periods. HIIT Spin is shorter and more intense per minute than standard Spin. It is designed for members who want maximum results in minimum time. For full details, visit our HIIT Spin Classes Dublin page.
Welcome to Spin (Smithfield) An introductory session designed for members who have never done an indoor cycling class before. Your instructor walks you through bike setup, explains the resistance system, shows you the correct riding positions and takes you through a shorter, gentler ride at a manageable pace. If you are nervous about joining a spin class for the first time, this is where to start.

Spin suits an exceptionally wide range of people because the resistance dial makes every class self-paced.
If you want to lose weight, spin is one of the highest calorie-burning classes on the timetable. A 45-minute session can burn 400 to 600 calories depending on your effort level, body weight and fitness. The sustained cardiovascular effort also raises your metabolic rate for hours after the session.
If you are training for a specific goal, the Keiser bike display gives you measurable data that allows you to track improvements in power output, endurance and speed over time. Many members use spin as structured cardiovascular training alongside their gym work or reformer pilates sessions.
If you have joint issues, spin is a zero-impact form of cardio. There is no running, jumping or lateral movement. Your feet stay on the pedals throughout, which makes it suitable for members with knee, hip or ankle problems who find land-based cardio uncomfortable.
If you are a complete beginner, the Welcome to Spin session at Smithfield gives you a gentle introduction. After that, the standard Spin format is entirely accessible. You simply dial the resistance down to a manageable level and build up over time. Nobody in the room knows what gear you are in.
If you are already fit and want to be pushed, adding resistance, increasing cadence and competing against your own previous performance data on the Keiser display makes any spin class as hard as you want it to be.
Cardiovascular fitness is the primary benefit. The sustained, rhythmic effort of cycling builds heart and lung capacity efficiently. Regular spin attendance improves your VO2 max, resting heart rate and overall endurance.
Lower body strength develops through the resistance work, particularly during climbing sections. Your quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves all work under load throughout the class. Higher-resistance climbing drills are essentially strength training for your legs.
Calorie burn is significant. The combination of sustained effort and interval work makes spin one of the most calorie-dense classes per minute. A 45-minute session at moderate-to-high intensity typically burns 400 to 600 calories.
Mental resilience builds through the structure of the class. Climbing a long hill with heavy resistance teaches you to sustain effort when it gets uncomfortable. Sprint intervals develop your ability to push into discomfort and recover quickly. These mental skills carry over to other forms of training and to daily life.
Spin is available at all four Iconic Health Clubs locations and is one of the most frequently scheduled classes across the network.

All spin classes at Iconic Health Clubs use Keiser indoor cycling bikes. These are commercial-grade magnetic resistance bikes that provide a smooth, quiet ride with precise resistance control. The built-in digital display tracks your cadence, gear, power (watts), calories and distance in real time.
The digital tracking is one of the most popular features among regular spin members. Being able to see your output during the class helps you pace your effort, and comparing your numbers session to session gives you a clear measure of your progress. You can photograph your screen at the end of class and upload the data via the Iconic Health Clubs app to build a record of your training over time.
All spin classes at Iconic Health Clubs are included with your membership at no extra cost. Book via the Iconic Health Clubs mobile app. Spin classes are among the most popular on the timetable and can fill up quickly, so booking in advance is recommended.
