Breathwork.
Minutes
Every Breathwork session at Iconic Dartry is instructor-led and built around a series of guided breathing exercises, each designed to produce a specific physical or mental outcome.
Your instructor will guide you through each technique, explaining what it does and how to apply it, so you always understand what you are doing and why. Sessions typically combine several different breathing methods. Some techniques are activating, building energy and mental focus before a demanding day. Others are calming, designed to slow the nervous system, release tension held in the body and prepare you for rest and recovery. Together they create a session that leaves you feeling both grounded and clear-headed.
The class takes place seated or lying down, depending on the technique being used. You need nothing other than comfortable clothing. There is no fitness requirement, no movement and nothing to lift. The only work happening in the room is breathing, and your instructor will make sure you are doing it well.

Breathwork is suitable for all levels. That is not a qualifier, it is the nature of the class. Everyone breathes, and everyone can benefit from learning to breathe more consciously. There is no version of this class that is too advanced or too basic for where you are right now.
If you are dealing with stress, anxiety or mental fatigue, Breathwork gives you practical tools to manage your nervous system in real time. The techniques you learn in class are not confined to the studio, they are skills you can apply at your desk, before a difficult conversation, before competition or at the end of a long day. Many members describe Breathwork as the class that has the most immediate and noticeable effect on how they feel outside the gym.
If you train regularly, Breathwork is a powerful complement to your physical programme. Recovery is as important as training load, and controlled breathing is one of the most effective and underused recovery tools available. Adding a Breathwork session to your week supports faster physical recovery, better sleep and improved focus during training.
If you are new to group fitness altogether, Breathwork is one of the best entry points into the Iconic timetable. There is no coordination required, no equipment to set up and no physical output to worry about. You simply arrive, follow your instructor and breathe.
Breathwork is primarily a nervous system class. Each session trains your ability to consciously regulate your physiological state, to move deliberately between activation and calm, between tension and release.
The physical benefits are significant. Regular breathwork practice has been shown to reduce resting heart rate, lower blood pressure, improve sleep quality and reduce the physical symptoms of chronic stress. For members who carry tension in the body, tight shoulders, shallow breathing, a racing mind at rest, Breathwork addresses the root cause rather than the symptom.
The mental and emotional benefits are equally well supported. Intentional breathing increases activity in the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for focus, decision-making and emotional regulation. Members who attend regularly often report improvements in concentration, a reduction in anxiety and a greater sense of control over how they respond to pressure.
Breathwork also develops body awareness. Learning to feel what your breath is doing β where it goes, how it moves, where it stops β builds a quality of attention that transfers into every other area of your training and your life. It is one of the few classes on any timetable that trains the mind and body simultaneously without asking anything physically demanding of either.
