Aqua Mix.
Minutes
Aqua Mix is a pool-based class that combines the best elements of several aqua fitness formats into one varied, full body workout. Rather than focusing on a single discipline, each session mixes cardio intervals, jumping, cycling-style movements, resistance exercises and power training, all performed in our heated swimming pool.
If you have tried other aqua classes and enjoyed them, Aqua Mix gives you a taste of everything in a single 45-minute session. And if you are new to pool-based fitness, it is a great way to experience the range of what aqua training can offer before committing to a more specialised class.
Your instructor leads the class through a structured programme that moves between different training styles. One block might focus on cardio-driven movements like running and jumping in the water. The next could shift to upper body resistance work using aquatic equipment. Another section might incorporate cycling-style exercises or plyometric jumps.
The variety is the point. By rotating between formats, the class targets different muscle groups and energy systems throughout the session. You get cardiovascular conditioning, muscular endurance and toning work all in one go, without the repetition that can come from a single-format class.
The water provides resistance in every direction, which means every movement works harder than it would on land. At the same time, the buoyancy of the water supports your joints and reduces impact, making Aqua Mix a genuinely challenging workout that is also gentle on your body.
Music drives the pace throughout. The atmosphere is energetic and social, and the changing formats keep things engaging from start to finish.

Aqua Mix is one of the most accessible classes in the aqua fitness range. Because the format changes throughout the session, there is something in every class that will suit you regardless of your fitness level or experience. If one section feels too intense, you can dial it back and pick up the pace again in the next block.
It is a good option if you are new to aqua fitness and want to try different styles of pool-based training before deciding which specialist classes to add to your routine. It also works well for regular aqua members who want a session that keeps things varied and avoids the routine of repeating the same class format every week.
The class suits all ages and abilities. The water environment makes it especially suitable for anyone managing joint issues, recovering from injury, or looking for a way to train at a good intensity without the impact of land-based exercise.
Training in the water already offers advantages that you do not get on land. Water is roughly 800 times denser than air, so every movement works against natural resistance. The buoyancy reduces load on your joints by up to 90 percent. And the hydrostatic pressure of the water supports circulation and can help reduce post-exercise soreness.
Aqua Mix adds to this by challenging your body in multiple ways within a single session. Combining cardio, resistance and power work in one class means you are improving cardiovascular fitness, building muscular endurance and working on toning simultaneously. This kind of varied stimulus is more effective for overall fitness than repeating the same movement pattern for 45 minutes.
The pool also keeps your body temperature regulated during intense efforts, so you can push harder for longer without overheating. Many members find that aqua classes allow them to sustain a higher work rate than they would manage in an equivalent land-based session.
